MEDCEM has adopted this vision of sustainability as a priority in its investments and processes for all group companies and staff members, creating a social and physical vision to protect the global system, ecology, economy and energy that make up this life cycle.

The objectives to achieve with the principle of continuous improvement are;

• Minimization of wastes,

Cement factories can use waste as alternative fuel. In this respect, cement factories provide an important solution to the management of waste and prevent environmental pollution which may be caused by the storage of waste, while at the same time contributing to the economy by avoiding any costs that may be related to the storage of wastes. MEDCEM aims to contribute to the nature and environment by starting to use alternative fuels and increasing the alternative fuel usage rate with the principle of continuous improvement.

• Combating climate change and preserving energy efficiency,

The increase in the rate of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere leads to the change of temperature on the earth's surface by preventing the reflection of the sun rays falling on the earth back to the space, which is called the greenhouse effect. MEDCEM ÇİMENTO, which has taken the mission to reduce CO2 emissions to combat climate change, attaches importance to energy and material recovery from wastes. To this end, the company aims to reduce fossil fuel use, protect non-renewable natural resources, and combat climate change by acquiring alternative fuels from waste.MEDCEM ÇİMENTO has a special place in nature and society with its "high performance environmental cement" that makes a difference in its production and achieves reduction in CO2 emissions with the minimum fuel consumption, the use of renewable energies and environment-friendly additive materials and with low clinker / cement ratio.

MEDCEM Çimento, equipped with the best available technologies considering the energy efficiency, is equipped with equipments that have a much lower energy consumption compared to other cement factories. With the goal of using renewable energy, the waste heat generated at the end of production is converted to energy through the Waste Heat Recovery System (WHR), resulting in emission reduction and also supporting the improvement of the environmental footprint of the industry. We are using the most preferred SNCR (Selective Non-catalytic Reduction) system in Europe and in the World to eliminate NOx emissions harmful to the environment in combustion gases in order to realize the objective of our country to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Paying attention to water efficiency, MEDCEM reuses the rain and surface waters after a physical treatment for the purpose of dedusting, thereby reducing the use of water resources considerably and aims to use this water in many other places.

• Water management,

Water is one of the basic resources of the industry as well as being the main source of life. Water efficiency has gained importance in recent years due to important factors such as population growth and climate change. MEDCEM carries out cement and clinker production by dry process method. In our facility, water is generally used for bedding and gas cooling purposes. Water used in bedding cooling is a completely recycled system and no wastewater is generated. The water used in the cooling towers to cool the gases is completely evaporated and no wastewater is formed.
